Jak myślisz, dlaczego Bóg powinien cię zbawić?
Rozmawiałem ostatnio z parą przyjaciół. Jedno z nich nie jest pewne, czy Bóg istnieje. Drugie z nich wierzy w istnienie Boga i rozmawia z Nim codziennie, ale poza tym punktem nasze spojrzenia się znacznie różnią. Obydwoje z tych przyjaciół posiadają wysoki poziom moralny i mówią mi, że moralność jest tym co się naprawdę liczy – jeżeli rzeczywiście istnieje Bóg/Sędzia, albo oczekująca nas wieczność. Zależy mi na moich przyjaciołach, lubię ich towarzystwo i respektuję ich tok myślenia. Rozbieżność w naszych opiniach nie znaczy, że nasze stosunki są nieprzyjemne, rozumiesz? Pozwól, że spytam raz jeszcze: dlaczego TY myślisz, że Bóg powinien cię zbawić? Co – według ciebie – „kwalifikuje” cię do życia wiecznego? Czy to, że do czasu, kiedy umrzesz, będziesz miał na swoim koncie więcej dobrych, niż złych uczynków? (Tak na marginesie – jest to rdzenne przesłanie wszystkich religii świata oprócz Chrześcijaństwa, według mojego zrozumienia).
Czy życie, czy nasze chodzenie z Bogiem i zbawienie – sprowadza się do dobrego zachowania kontra złego zachowania? Co myślisz? Czy moralność jest ważna? Tak. Czy powinniśmy robić dobre rzeczy? Tak. Czy powinniśmy wnosić więcej dobra, niż zła do życia tego świata? Jak najbardziej.
Temat ten jest tematem o życiu. Zawsze był i zawsze będzie. Bóg chce, abyś żył, i to żył w dostatku. Właśnie dlatego Life Ignited (Rozpalone Życie) ma motto: Rozpalanie w ludziach życia, radości i miłości.
No więc – dlaczego Bóg powinien ciebie zbawić? Dwa powody:
1. Ponieważ Jezus umarł naszą śmiercią, więc możemy mieć dostęp do życia, które odrzuciliśmy (dzięki Adamowi i Ewie).
2. W psalmie 119:94 czytamy: ”Twoim jestem! Wybaw mnie”. Zauważ, czego Dawid nie mówi: „Wybaw mnie, bo zasłużyłem”, „Wybaw mnie, bo mam prawdę”, „Wybaw mnie, bo jestem przykładem moralności”, “Wybaw mnie, bo się zgłosiłem”, “Wybaw mnie, bo chodzę do kościoła co tydzień”, „Wybaw mnie, bo podczas mojego życia zrobiłem więcej dobrych rzeczy niż złych”, “Wybaw mnie, bo jestem weganem”. Nie rości sobie prawa do żadnego z tych powodów, które my uważamy za bardzo ważne. Po prostu mówi: „Wybaw mnie, bo jestem Twój.” I to jest drugim powodem, dlaczego Bóg powinien ciebie zbawić. Powinien ciebie zbawić, bo jesteś Jego, .............. (wstaw swoje imię). Należysz do Niego. Jesteś Jego wartościową własnością. Jesteś źrenicą Jego oka. Jesteś Jego największą radością. Jesteś osobą, bez której On nie chce spędzić wieczności. Jesteś kimś, z kim chciałby przebywać teraz. Nie jesteś przypadkiem, nie jesteś osobą odstającą od otoczenia, (nieprzystosowaną do otoczenia), rzeczą czy przypadkowym „małpim” genem, który wygrzebał się z prehistorycznego błota. Jesteś wspaniałym stworzeniem Bożym. Jesteś Jego własnością. Należysz do Niego. I On chce być cały twój. Na zawsze.

Why Should God Save You?

Let me get straight to the point: why do you think God should save you?
I was talking with a couple of friends lately. One of them hasn’t decided if God exists. The other one believes God exists and talks with Him daily, but beyond that, our views are quite different. Both of these friends have high moral codes and told me that they think that morality is, in the end, what matters in the grand scheme of things if there is indeed a God/Judge, or an eternity that awaits. I care for both of these friends, enjoy them and respect their opinions. Just because we disagree doesn’t mean our relationship is disagreeable, know what I mean? But I want to ask you again, why do YOU think God should save you? What do you think “qualifies” you for eternal life? Is it having performed more good things than bad things by the time you die? (By the way, that is the core message of all world religions except Christianity, according to my understanding). Does life – does our walk with God and salvation – boil down to good behaviour versus bad behaviour? What do you think? Is morality important? Yes. Should we be doing good things? Yes. Are we to contribute more good than bad to life in this world? Absolutely. But here’s the deal: it’s not about good or bad, as you’ve so often heard me say, it’s about what? Life and death. This is the core message of the Bible. You can be moral but be dead spiritually. But you can’t be spiritual without being moral. The point is, however, that every day you are either fully alive or experiencing an increasing amount of life from God... or you are dying a little bit more. Remember this: it’s not about right or wrong or good and bad, it’s about life or death. If it were about right or wrong then Jesus Christ wouldn’t have had to die on the cross. In dying on the cross, He wasn’t appeasing an angry God. He was fulfilling our ultimate destiny, which is, apart from God, death, for He is the only source of life. It’s about life. Always has been always will be. God wants you to live, and not only that, but to have an abundance of life. That’s why Life Ignited’s motto is: Igniting people with life, laughter and love. So why should God save you?
Two reasons: Because Jesus died our death so that we might have access to the life we rejected (thanks Adam & Eve). And secondly, for this reason. I read it this morning during my spiritual focusing time in Psalm 119:94, “Save me, for I am yours” (NIV). Notice what David doesn’t say: “Save me because I’ve earned it.” “Save me because I have the truth.” “Save me because I’m a moral fellow.” “Save me because I volunteer.” “Save me because I attend church weekly.” “Save me because I’ve done more good things than bad things during my lifetime.” “Save me because I’m a vega”. He doesn’t claim any of the reasons that we consider so important. He simply says, “Save me because I am yours.” And that is the second reason why God should save you. He should save you because you are His, ……… You belong to Him. You are His prized possession. You are the apple of His eye. You are His greatest joy. You are the person that He doesn’t want to spend eternity without. And you are someone He enjoys doing life with now. You’re not an accident, misfit, thing or random “monkey” gene that crawled from the “primordial” soup. You are His wonderful creation. You are His. You belong... to Him. You’re all His. And He wants to be all yours. Forevermore.
