Nicolai Millen, translated by Zbigniew Jankiewicz

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Could there be a better and more challenging sermon than preaching of personal life experiences? This was done by brother Nicolai Milen – he spoke about his own journey to become an Adventist.

In the past Nicolai spoke about his personal road to the Adventist Church and the church beliefs and principles – find it here.....

Nicolai said - recently a friend and I were looking for something on Wikipedia, and we found a report to the UN, which stated that there are 38,000 churches and Christian denominations.

Two thousand years ago Jesus founded one church. The day of the Pentecost (read Acts chapter 2) - is the birthday of the Christian church.

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” Ephesians 4:4-5.

When I was 23 years old, I was searching for answers regarding life and I found them in the Scripture:

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14.

“He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4.

We teach the “Bible and only the Bible", but why than do we draw attention to E.G. White? We accept what the Bible teaches, but her writings are gifts that help us understand the Scriptures.

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” John 16:12-13.

Ellen G. White in her books shows us the future based on the past.

So why have I become a Christian and an Adventist?

I was convinced that it is important to keep the commandments and have knowledge of the spirit of prophecy, which leads to the knowledge of Jesus.

In connection with the last sermon I have four questions:

  1. In the sermon it was stated that only the Adventists preach the gospel. Not true, Catholics, Jehovah Witnesses, Pentecostals and other denominations also preach it. So why has such statement been made?
  2. As far as the temple. Do only Adventists speak of the sanctuary? And what about the Jews since they are preparing to build the next temple?
  3. Why did he compare the Pentateuch - five books of Moses with five books written by E.G. White?
  4. Since he spoke so much about this sister, why has not complied with her advice that all sermons be Christ-centred? I am waiting for answers.

First, I would like to thank you, the person who asked these 4 questions. Secondly, I feel very sorry that this misunderstanding happened. And now, these are my answers: 1. I never said that ONLY the SDA church preached the gospel. Every Christian church preaches the gospel. The universal church is composed of all who truly believe in Christ, but in the last days which is a time of widespread apostasy, a remnant has been called out to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. This remnant announces the arrival of the judgment hour, proclaims salvation through Christ, and heralds the approach of His second coming. This proclamation is symbolized by the three angels of Revelation 14; it coincides with the work of judgment in heaven and results in a work of repentance and reform on earth. Every believer is called to have a personal part in this worldwide witness. (Rev 12:17; Rev 14:6-12; Rev 18:1-4; 2 Cor 5:10; Jude 3, 14; 1 Peter 1:16-19; 2 Peter 3:10-14; Rev 21:1-14). 2. I never said the word temple, I used the word Sanctuary. The Bible has a lot to say about the Sanctuary. See: Heb 8:1-5; 4:14-16; 9:11-28; 10:19-22; 1:3; 2:16, 17; Dan 7:9-27; 8:13, 14; 9:24-27; Num 14:34; Ezek 4:6; Lev 16; Rev 14:6,7; 20:12; 14:12; 22:12. Doctrine 24 Christ’s Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle which the Lord set up and not man. In it Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross. He was inaugurated as our great High Priest and began His intercessory ministry at the time of His ascension. In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, He entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement. In that typical service the sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices, but the heavenly things are purified with the perfect sacrifice of the blood of Jesus. The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection. It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This judgment vindicates the justice of God in saving those who believe in Jesus. It declares that those who have remained loyal to God shall receive the kingdom. The completion of this ministry of Christ will mark the close of human probation before the Second Advent. 3. In my sermon I never compare the five books of Moses with the five books of Ellen G White: “Patriarchs and Prophets”, ”Prophets and Kings”, ”Desire of Ages”, “Acts of the Apostles” and “the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan”. These books of Ellen White are called “The Conflict of the Ages series”. In my sermon I said: “In the conflict of the ages series, Ellen White selects and applies biblical narratives illustrating the great controversy theme – showing how the past instructs us about the future. She was also let to highlight specific passages especially relevant for the last-day church”. 4. In my sermon I spoke about Ellen White (1827-1915), because she was one of the pioneers of the SDA Church. My sermon was doctrinal. One of the doctrines of the Holy Bible is the doctrine of the Gift of Prophecy. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen White. Adventists believe that she exercised the Biblical gift of prophecy during more than 70 years of public ministry. As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provides comfort, guidance, instruction and correction to the church. Her writings also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. See Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb 1:1-3; Rev 12:17; 19:10.
