Kids For Kids 2009

Funds were raised for the Food for Life ministries

On Saturday 28th of November 2009 we had the pleasure of attending another Kids for Kids Concert. This year the concert took place at the Springvale SDA church. This concert is an annual fundraising event which was established and is coordinated by the Joyful Singers children's choir every year since 1999.

The theme of this years event was "What would Jesus do?". Children from the choir as well as other visiting performers had an opportunity to worship Jesus in simple children songs and encourage others to worship together with them. The concert began when the Lysterfield choir entered the church singing the theme song of this years event " Oh how I love Jesus". This song was repeated a number of times between items while the congregation joined in singing.

Children and other performers shared their musical talents to raise funds for other children who are less fortunate than us. This year the funds were raised for the Food for Life ministries that are currently operating in the South Pacific islands. Dennise Perry introduced the work that this particular ministry performs by a short power point presentation. Food for life ministries work specifically with communities that settle on Rubbish Tips and live there. People fight for food amongst each other and make shelter from items that they can find such as boxes etc. A large percentage of Rubbish Tip Communities consist of criminals who are no longer able to live in a main stream community. Approximately 2 people die everyday as a result of crime.

The work completed by the Food for life ministries assist these communities with food and clothes. Schools are set up in these communities so that children living there might get some form of education as well. Children are so keen to learn that in some communities children will have an opportunity to attend Sabbath school lessons on Saturdays extending their school week to 6 days a week.

Sanitarium Health Food Company is one of the main sponsors of this ministry which enables this work to be continued. However more funds are needed as the need is so great. There is a plan to also extend the work to the Indonesia regions to save more people and introduce them to Lord our saviour who loves all people equally. The concert raised $3651.50 and may God continue to bless Food for Life Ministry and all the people who volunteer their time to help others in need.
