Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Dear co-travellers to eternity

By Roman Chalupka

I greet you so warmly and wish you God’s grace and blessings in every moment of your day.
I didn’t think that I will be sending so many letters but probably it looks like this is just the beginning. Anyhow, nobody knows how long this situation will last. Even though the situation is not getting worse in Australia – praise God – it is still very serious and the authorities seem to be more and more hopeless. How will we all manage this?

Apostle Paul has written extremely interesting words about what we should do. “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God.” — Hebrews 12:14-15 (NIV)

To live in peace with everyone and to be holy. What universal advice that could change the whole world, and for sure at least all the groups of believers. Therefore today I would like to share with you the lyrics of one Christian hymn I found in the English Adventist Hymnal. It touched me so much that I have translated its lyrics into Polish. The words are so deep in meaning.

Let your heart be broken for a world in need:
Feed the mouths that hunger, sooth the wounds that bleed.
Give the cup of water and the loaf of bread —
Be the Hands of Jesus, serving in His stead.

Here on earth applying principles of love,
Visible expression – God still rules above.
Living illustration of the Living Word
To the minds of all who’ve never seen or heard.

Blest to be a blessing, privileged to care,
Challenged by the need – apparent everywhere.
Where mankind is wanting, fill the vacant place.
Be the means through which the Lord reveals His grace.

Add to your believing deeds that prove it true,
Knowing Christ as Saviour, make Him Master too.
Follow in His footsteps, go where He has trod;
In the world’s great trouble risk yourself for God.

Let your heart be tender and your vision clear;
See mankind as God sees, serve Him far and near.
Let your heart be broken by a brother’s pain;
Share your rich resources, give and drive again.

But after all, it is possible, as it was possible in Jesus’ time, when He was on this earth. Let’s follow His example or in other words — follow Him. Everywhere and all the time, until we’ll be with Him forever.
